the first time I saw you
your eyes carried me away
before I knew what to say
your beauty
made my day
loving you is easy
my Aphrodite
my heart
my goddess
my deity
the first time I saw you
your eyes carried me away
before I knew what to say
your beauty
made my day
loving you is easy
my Aphrodite
my heart
my goddess
my deity
the powers that be
are always telling you and me
who to love
they say
two women are a sin
and two men are a sin
almost any relationship we’re in
is radioactive love
according to the powers above
but love has no limits or restraints
people are not some church’s saints
living in an unreal society
full of ridiculous propriety
no rules or money
are needed
love is free
allowing you
to be happy
Fly One: Oh! Queen of the compound eyes, your beauty is a much sought after prize!
Fly Two: Aren’t you the ladies man buzzing around with that sexy wingspan?
Fly One: You are the leftover apple of my eye with your long luscious antennae!
Fly Two: Go on…your playing with me with all that fancy poetry.
Fly One: It’s true! All I can think about is being with you!
Fly Two: What a lighthearted lothario you seem to be, looking to have whoopee with me.
Fly Two: The time for talk is done, let’s have some serious fun.
Fly One: Your sweet talk has won me over, come on over…
SPLAT!
“Damn flies,” the man muttered to himself as he walked away.

It was many, and many a month ago
in a city called Miami
there was a woman living there who you may know
by the name of Tammy McGee
and this woman spent her time
loving and being loved by me
I was retired and so was she
living on the beaches of Miami
and we loved one another madly
I, and my Tammy McGee
with a love the world envied
her, and me
and this was the reason
she was killed by a Nazi
on the beaches of Miami
my gorgeous Tammy McGee
Her family came
and bore her away from me,
burying her in secrecy
the relatives were never happy with me
Yes! That is the reason, as all people know,
they took her away from Miami
hiding my beloved Tammy McGee
but our love continues on in eternity
and nothing can take away her love from me
she appears to me every night in my dreams
my darling Tammy McGee
and not a day goes by
when the sun raises high
when I don’t want to die
Popeye was my kinda guy
a free spirit who says aye! aye!
I yam who I yam, he would say
a phrase that always made my day
the spinach-eating sailor was very strong
always stopping Brutus when he was wrong
Olive Oly was the apple of his eye
but that gal could be fickle and sly
promising kisses and expecting gifts
she was the cause of most of his rifts
but Popeye always came back for more
because it was Olive he did adore
Finally
after years of waiting impatiently
I found you
these past years
have been full of tears
searching for you
trying to discover
my soulmate and lover
you
were a dream once upon a time
a cry for the sublime
you
have touched my heart
I never want to be apart
from you

The tricky part of love, as new lovers know, is what makes love continue to grow?
First love is like a red rose in bloom. It’s essence, an intoxicating perfume. But it comes with a warning that if the rose wilts: there’ll be thorns that draw blood and tears. Rejection is a hidden fear.
Love through the years is an obtainable goal when soul mates nurture that first rose with mutual respect and open devotion juxtaposed.
Lovers that learn the secret to staying in love still see stars in one another’s eyes, and know that they are each others prize.
