for the sake of humanity
bring us together in unity
we’re a troubled society
in desperate need of harmony
help us see
the absurdity
of denying diversity
so that we can live
together peacefully

I watched in wry wonder
the speaker in the park
with a voice like thunder
some family’s patriarch
preach about end days
as the crowd gathered around
in the smoggy haze
waiting for salvation
and better days
not condemnation
guessing he was mad
the crowd drifted away
many feeling sad
and others feeling led astray

when it comes to
seeking serenity
each one of us has
a choice to make
a path to take
sometimes serendipity
determines fate
on our trail
resulting in
an eternal
fairytale
we all live in a bubble
seeking verification
on cable TV
because we live in
an insecure society
there’s bubbles for the wealthy
and bubbles for the poor
there’s bubbles for races
and more
someday hopefully
there will not be
all these bubbles
with their troubles
in our country
the residents of Rogueville loved listening to their bell ring out from the town’s highest tower, the church spire
but the bell had a history
it was a thing of mystery
it’s origin hotly debated
the bell was silver plated
over brass and steel
that mighty bell did peal
three times a day
calling people to pray
until the word got out
what the bell was about
a souvenir from a war
a symbol of the horror
so the town took down
their symbol of pride
sadly setting it aside
long before the final war
when forests were still green
and the waters in the rivers
ran blue
there was an age of wisdom
when a sage made his debut
teaching people the right thing to do
he appeared before young and old
and those that were smart
soon did as they were told
he gave them laws to live by
stressing equality
but these laws they chose to defy
and the sage went back into the sky
and mankind discovered the horror of war
and nothing was the same anymore
Why is there always one clown in a crowd who asks people witnessing an entertaining, strange, or scary event, “Did you see that?“
Why do some men and women wear pants so tight they rip if they bend over? And, for God’s sake, why are so many of them huge?
Why would anyone buy a wristwatch that just tells the time?
Why do some Evangelical Christians today get to pick and choose which of the 10 Commandments to follow?
Why does America have more people in prisons than any of the other top industrial nations in the world?
Why don’t train boxcars only carry boxes?
Why are you taking the time to read these silly questions?
there’s no time to stop or hesitate
or to contemplate your fate
the line must keep moving along
no sense of right or wrong
the line keeps moving everyday
never making any headway
in a society of strangers
afraid of dangers
lines are crossed and people die
not even knowing why
everyone keeps moving the line
looking for a sign
a guiding light
through the dark night
for inspiration
and salvation
On religion the skeptic’s view is clear
there’s no invisible guy in the sky
that mankind has to fear
Skeptics find it hard to believe
religion to them, is just a way to deceive
and that faithful followers are all naive
Skeptics often fall back on science
in dogged defiance
of religion’s compliance
taking a wait and see
attitude unapologetically
when it comes to their destiny
50 words –
There are wounds that we can see and others invisible to the naked eye, but both can make us cry.
Physical wounds leave tell-tale scars on the body. Physic wounds hide in the head, leaving the victim with a constant state of dread.
Faith can cure both and raise the dead
