in the dream there was an emerald glow
that enveloped me
as I walked
through the snow
seeking the mystery
that led me
into an unknown land
guided by the emerald glow
I sought answers from the gods
and wizards I didn’t know
my dream guiding me
into unknown country
where I walked on clouds
to see what I could see
it’s always exciting to me
when my emerald dreams
take me to new places to see
and I begrudge the long days
that are reality
waiting
patiently
for sleep
to envelope me
just so you know
I’ll be needing one more sip
before I go
I know where
you want to take me
so let’s avoid a row
but before I go
another sip I’ll need
for my suppossed
misdeed
if you must know
I’m sipping
an expensive Bordeaux
on this nice night
the last thing
I want is a fight
so
step back boyos
and I’ll finish my wine
then you can take me
anytime
they go through each day
doing the “Hully Gully”
in their hypocritical way
they do the “Twist” with facts
holding reality at bay
hypocrites always dance
to the opposite side of sense
doing the “Hokey Pokey”
and a “Tango” on a fence
they go “Gangnam Style“
when caught redhanded
they do the “Moonwalk”
down denier’s aisle
you can easily see
a hypocrite
doing the “Monkey“
A “Macarena” line forms
when hypocrites gather
defying norms
They do the “Shimmy”
and the “Shake”
whatever it’ll take
to hide what’s true
recognizing the dances
that they do
is a good warning
for you
I can tell when people tell lies
with these eyes
their body movements a tell
making it easy to see
for an old man like me
decades of experience resides
compartmentally
in my brain
lurking behind my tired eyes
I’ve seen the horror
of war
I keep it behind a door
behind these eyes
I look forward
to each new day
putting aside yesterday
a daily exercise
behind these
still alert
eyes
I knew an old lady who use to say
“Ain’t it grand?“
Every day
about subjects big and small
on local people
and the town hall
her positive attitude
on all subjects
earned everyone’s gratitude
and the local newspaper ran
her column about the community
and her love for this land
readers looked forward every week
to read about their town’s activities
that were so unique
alas!
all good things come to an end
but she’ll always be remembered
as a godsend
we all live in a bubble
seeking verification
on cable TV
because we live in
an insecure society
there’s bubbles for the wealthy
and bubbles for the poor
there’s bubbles for races
and more
someday hopefully
there will not be
all these bubbles
with their troubles
in our country
when love turns to ash
it sometimes happens
in a flash
meanwhile
the driver in the crash
saw his entire life go by
in a flash
while
his dreams
of a treasure cache
were dashed
in a flash
finally
he left behind a lot of cash
but his wife gambled it away
in a flash!
the powers that be
are always telling you and me
who to love
they say
two women are a sin
and two men are a sin
almost any relationship we’re in
is radioactive love
according to the powers above
but love has no limits or restraints
people are not some church’s saints
living in an unreal society
full of ridiculous propriety
no rules or money
are needed
love is free
allowing you
to be happy
they give life to flowers and fruit
they’re nature’s trustees
those busy busy bees
honey bees
and worker bees
looking for pollen to seize
giving some people the willies
and others are at ease
with the love of bees
busy bumble bees
pollinating fruit and flowers
busy busy bees
buzzing in the breeze
and in their nest among the trees
one is lean and the other one is fat
people call them blue cat and red rat
blue cat is fast for his size
red rat has beady eyes
blue cat considers him prey
but red rat outruns him all day
blue cat is streaky
red rat is sneaky
blue cat likes his raw meat
red rat thinks cheese is neat
blue cat likes to frolic and play
red rat works at staying away
one day
blue cat’s tail was caught in a trap
and red rat laughed at the mishap
the next day
red rat was caught in a trap
and blue cat ate him in the recap
